The jazz trio of guitarist Sam Miltich, bass player Matthew Miltich, and drummer Jay Epstein host a rotating cast of all-star Minnesota jazz musicians for this monthly event. For the 2019-2020 season featured musicians will include Tony Balluff, Laura Cavianni, John Ely, Dave Graf, Doug Haining, Dave Karr, Chris Lomheim, Charmin Michelle, and Briand Morrison. The series will highlight original compositions by Miltich and his guest artists alongside a repertoire of jazz standards in genres from straight-ahead jazz to bebop to western swing.
Jazz at the VFW is part of the First Friday Art Walk in downtown Grand Rapids.
