Creative Individuals Grant
This pilot program provides support to help individual artists and culture bearers develop or sustain their creative practices and meaningfully engage with Minnesotans. Grantees may use funds to support their creative practice and meaningfully connect to and engage with audiences, participants, students, and/or communities during the grant period.

There are two application deadlines:

  • April 21, 2023, before 4:30 p.m.

  • July 28, 2023, before 4:30 p.m

Cultural Expression Grant
This pilot program supports activities that share, explore, pass on, express, or celebrate culture through the arts. Culture may be defined by a common ethnicity, tribal affiliation, geographic or regional identity, occupation, language, or recreation. Traditional and contemporary forms of cultural expression may be funded in this program. Funds could be used to support practicing a cultural art form; presenting cultural festivals, community celebrations, performances, media or exhibitions; offering demonstrations, etc. Funds could also be used to deepen or pass on cultural traditions through apprenticeships or documentation.

Arts Experiences Grant
This pilot program supports individuals and organizations in providing meaningful arts experiences for Minnesotans within their communities. Funds may be used for a variety of arts programming such as creating and/or presenting concerts, plays, tours, exhibitions, arts festivals, public art, or other kinds of activities that provide Minnesotans opportunities to engage in arts activities that are instilled into community or public life.

Arts Education Grant
This pilot program helps Minnesotans develop personal relationships with an art form(s) by supporting learning experiences for individuals of all ages and abilities. Project grant funds may be used for age-appropriate classes, workshops, camps, after-school programs, online education programs, community arts education, school residences or partnerships, etc.

Accessible Arts Grant
People with disabilities face significant barriers to the arts as creators, participants, and attendees. This pilot program will offer project grants to increase the capacity of the arts sector to make arts experiences more accessible. Funds will be used for investments that will have a longer-term impact on the applicant, such as professional development related to accessibility (i.e., staff or volunteer training, etc.), hiring accessibility consultants to conduct accessibility audits and/or develop accessibility plans, etc. Funds may also be used for small physical or equipment investments (costing less than $5,000) that will make programming more accessible (i.e. assisted listening, captioning equipment, grab bars, etc.).

McKnight

McKnight Artist Fellowship for Ceramic Artists
The McKnight Artist Fellowship for Ceramic Artists supports outstanding Minnesota ceramic artists who identify with any methodology: functional, sculptural, relational—all techniques are welcome. The intent of this program is to recognize and support mid-career artists living and working in Minnesota, who demonstrate a sustained level of accomplishment, commitment, and artistic excellence.

McKnight Fellowships for Musicians
The McKnight Fellowships for Musicians are intended to recognize and support mid-career musicians living and working in Minnesota who demonstrate a sustained level of accomplishment, commitment, artistic excellence, a distinctive musical voice, and a significant performing career over a period of time. The McKnight Fellowships for Musicians are committed to honoring the breadth of Minnesota musicians of all genres; aesthetically, geographically, and culturally.

McKnight Artist Residency for Ceramic Artists
The program provides recipients with the opportunity to be in residence for three months at Northern Clay Center, where they can develop their work and exchange ideas and knowledge with Minnesota ceramic artists. Each resident artist will receive a $6,000 award (for a three-month residency), studio space provided at no cost, and a glaze and firing stipend. During the residency, each artist will present a public lecture, for which they will receive an additional honorarium.

Jerome Foundation

MN Film, Video, and Digital Production Grant
Offered every two years, Jerome Foundation’sMNFilm, Video and Digital Production(MNProduction) grant provides Minnesota-basedearly career film directors, working in short and/or long form experimental, narrative, animation or documentary genres, or in any combination of these forms, a production grant of up to $30,000 for all stages of production.

MN Film, Video, and Digital Artist Development Grant
Offered every two years, Jerome Foundation’s MN Film, Video and Digital ArtistDevelopment (MN Artist Development) grant providesMinnesota-based early career film directors, working in short and/or long form experimental, narrative, animation or documentary genres, or in any combination of these forms, up to $10,000 to engage in self-designed mentorship with experienced directors or other film professionals to strengthen their film directing craft and/or professional skills in connection with a specific film, video or digital production project.

Educational Grants

  • Available to small quilt groups or individuals to educate people about quilting and promote quilting throughout the state and elsewhere.

  • Grants of $50-500 available

Available to individuals or groups to construct quilts for social service-oriented organizations (hospitals, women's shelters, etc.)
