Featured Artist: Dafne Caruso

We’re excited to have Dafne Caruso’s art displayed in our office!

Dafne Caruso is a self-taught artist who, in 2012, decided to finally get serious about practicing and improving her skill as an artist. Her creative journey began as a child fiddling with fabric and in time, moved on to making jewelry using seed beads. Eventually, she graduated to working as a silversmith but as is typical of her need for change, began using acrylic, watercolor, paper, and fiber as mediums. Being a multi-media artist allows Dafne the freedom to satiate her need for change while at the same time improving valuable skills that are important regardless of the medium used. Her need to create and ‘do’ is inherent; as necessary and essential as breathing. Most of her work is inspired from photographs taken throughout her travels, as well as photographs taken by friends.

This Kenya series was inspired by Annie Sinesio, a friend who traveled to Kenya this past year. Her photographs were so impactful that I knew I had to paint them even though animals never really interested me.
