Let's get to know Ginger a little better through a quick Q&A!

How did you start making art?/Why do you make art?

I have always liked art supplies and the process of making art. I’m staring at a box of artwork from my childhood that I haven’t seen in decades, it sure looks like I’ve been making art for a very long time.

What inspired this particular body of work?

I have been really struggling with life for a very long time as a result of illness and a traumatic event. I started to make art to become strong again so my work has been an exploration of color but a physical activity to know I can be in this world functioning again.

What is your studio space like?

I am so lucky to have art projects in every room of my home.

Did you always want to be an artist/creator?

When I was younger I wanted to be rich living in New York City wearing stilettos. Some weird visual of this implanted in my brain at some point. But I now want to be present, mindful, loving, and experience joy. I don’t know if I’m an artist or just a living breathing human.

How do you know when a piece is done?

Depends on the assignment I’ve set for myself.

What type of work do you most enjoy creating?

Sculpture

What’s your favorite beverage/snack while you create?

Chocolate everything anything

What is your most important artist tool? Is there something you can’t live without in your studio?

Discipline is an important tool. I just need color in any form to sit and create.

What is art for?

Healing, joy, and connection, probably an evolving answer over time.

Where else can we see your work?

Alt Creative in downtown Duluth & every street corner near you during this current political season. (Miranda Pacheco, Jenna Yeakle campaign logo design)
