State Capitol Art Meeting
Minnesota State Representative Mary Murphy and the Executive Director of the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council, Robert DeArmond, invite you to help shape the policies regarding art in the newly renovated Minnesota State Capitol.
On Tuesday, November 24th Minnesotans from the Arrowhead region are asked to gather at the Underground Theater at the St. Louis County Heritage and Arts Center (The Depot), 506 West Michigan St., Duluth from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. to discuss the current art work that is being displayed as well as the possibility for new art in the capitol.
Attendees will have the opportunity to share their comments about the inclusion of governor portraits, paintings that depict state history and new Minnesota stories. Three members of the Art Subcommittee will be attending: co-chairs Representative Diane Loeffler, Former and Justice Paul Anderson, and Ted Lentz, the President of the Cass Gilbert Society will hear recommendations. Please consider sharing your thoughts with the Art Committee and attend Tuesday’s meeting.
Whether you are a teacher, a student, a parent chaperone for a class trip, a citizen whose job takes you to the Capitol, or just an interested Minnesotan we encourage you to attend our meeting and share your opinions and attitudes to help make the Minnesota capitol art a better reflection of our shared values and our state.
