Fiction Writing Workshop with Claire Bransky

  • The Loch Cafe and Games 318 North 18th Avenue East Duluth, MN, 55812 United States (map)

Wait seriously, what's the world you want to live in?

A workshop using fiction as a tool for visioning & organizing

WHERE: The Loch Café & Games, 318 N 18th Ave E, Duluth, MN 55812
WHEN: Thursday, April 10, 6-8 PM
WHO: Anyone is welcome!
PREP: Please bring a notebook and something to write with!

In these times of crisis, fear, and hopelessness, it can be easy to imagine what we DON'T want. But what DO we want? What is the world that we long for? How does it look, feel, and function? How could we get there?

For the past six months, local organizer Claire Bransky has been grappling with these questions through a short story about their Duluth neighborhood in the year 2125. Claire will share a draft of their story for community feedback, and facilitate an interactive workshop experimenting with fiction as a tool to imagine beyond the constraints we've been taught. We will also reflect on why those constraints exist, who benefits from them, and how it feels to break beyond. Space is limited, please RSVP at bit.ly/fictionforthefuture.

“We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings.” --Ursula K. LeGuin
