Folktales From Around the World Auditions

  • Lyric Center for the Arts - Annex 510 Chestnut Street Virginia, MN, 55792 United States (map)

Lyric Youth Arts Theatre Education brings us Folktales From Around the World this Summer!
Auditions at The Lyric Annex on June 6th from 1-3:30 for students entering grades 3-8.

Director Susan Nelson returns after a very successful run of Schoolhouse Rock Live! JR. to direct a light hearted production of Folktales From Around the World. With live action tellings of Native American princesses, Scandinavian and Norwegian fairy tales, Brothers Grimm tales of learning how to fear and more, students will work through their own challenges of stage fright, self-discipline and team dedication and development.

During the production of Schoolhouse Rock, Live! JR., twelve students from Hibbing, Eveleth, Virginia and Mt. Iron participated in the 8 week production. Susan announced; “I really had fun with this one and am looking forward to auditioning for the summer show!”

Folktales From Around the World will run from June 6 through July 15 with performances at a stage to be determined. Rehearsals will be Monday through Thursday from 1-3:30 with flexibility in the first few weeks depending on the role. We are excited to offer behind the scenes “TECH” positions this time for those who may not have performance interest but would still like to experience the positive structure and learning opportunities of a theatrical production. Registration is $75 and scholarships are available by request.

Here is what a few of our Spring production participants had to say about their experience. Mila Flatley, grade 7, exclaimed; “I learned about acting while having fun..I looked forward to going to rehearsal every day.”

Charles Walkama, age 9, of Virginia proudly proclaimed; "I liked making friends. That was one of my favorite parts. And I like acting. It wasn't much different from my dance recitals."

Parker Feldt, grade 5, said; "I had so much fun. It's a lot of work, but it is so worth it!"

We are looking forward to hosting the kids again for a lighthearted, summer storytelling production and hope to see plenty of bright new faces, eager to learn what the world of theatrical production has to offer them.
