Naomi Yaeger "Blooming Hollyhocks" book tour

  • Tracy Public Library 189 3rd Street Tracy, Minnesota, 56175 United States (map)

Join Minnesota author Naomi Helen Yaeger for an engaging presentation inspired by her book, Blooming Hollyhocks: Tales of Joy During Hard Times. Set in Avoca and Slayton during the Great Depression and World War II, the book shares true stories of one southwest Minnesota family and the faith, resilience, and simple joys that carried them through challenging times.

Through lively storytelling, historic photographs, and audience participation, Naomi brings this era to life while encouraging guests to share their own memories of growing up in rural Minnesota.

The presentation also features traditional banjo music performed by Terry Larson, adding to the atmosphere of the period. Following the program, participants will have the opportunity to make a simple corn husk doll, a traditional craft that reflects the resourcefulness and creativity of children growing up during the Depression.
